Bill Wood, Senior Civil Engineer, has developed his expertise in site and infrastructure design by leading projects at SmithGroupJJR in a multitude of markets. His ability to integrate infrastructure with distinctive, placemaking design enables him to create a project vision and bring it to life, further enriching the user experience. Bill conceptualized the Stormwater Management Master Plan for Loyola University Chicago’s Lake Shore Campus, and served as the Lead Civil Engineer to implement the plan through multiple phases of construction from 2008 to 2016. Bill holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Michigan.

John Helfrich, Civil Engineer at SmithGroupJJR, has extensive experience in implementing sustainable and creative stormwater management systems across the Chicagoland area. He works integrally with multidisciplinary design and owner team members on a wide range of project types to provide innovative and holistic infrastructure solutions. John has served as Project Engineer on several projects to implement the Stormwater Management Master Plan for Loyola University Chicago along with numerous developments for other university and healthcare clients in the Midwest. John earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Chad W. Brensinger, PE, LEED® AP

Mr. Brensinger is a graduate of Lehigh University with a focus in hydrology. Chad has been with Charles E. Shoemaker since graduating in 2002 and obtained his Pennsylvania Professional Engineer’s License in 2007 and his NJ and DE licenses in 2016. He has also successfully completed his LEED Professional Accreditation though the U.S. Green Building Certification Institute in June of 2009.
His experience includes all aspects site civil engineering including layout, grading, storm sewer, erosion control and sanitary sewer design. However, Chad specializes in stormwater management and erosion control design and has attended various seminars and training sessions to stay current with today’s demanding stormwater management design and permitting requirements where water quality, rates, volumes and environmental sustainability are critical. Much is his experience pertains to managing stormwater runoff on challenging sites where space is very limited and designing an efficient, cost effective and environmentally conscious stormwater management system is paramount in the life of the project.
